Contaminants included petroleum, chlorinated solvents, and metals. Performed jet fuel bulk storage facilities assessments at San Francisco and Oakland International Airports. Major clients include United Airlines, PS Trading, and Dade County Aviation Department. United Airlines Maintenance Center, San Francisco Airport (2003 to 2005). Field manager for bedrock drilling project. Supervised drilling of multilevel monitoring wells up to 500 feet deep into fractured bedrock as part of a chlorinated solvent assessment. Down-hole geophysical logging was performed to identify fracture zones. Logging included caliper, resistivity, gamma, and video logging. Wells were drilled using a mud and air rotary rig.

ExxonMobil (2009 to 2010). Managed high profile projects in litigation at Port of San Francisco for a confidential oil client. Projects complicated by litigation by the land owner and/or tenants occupying the client’s divested facilities. Additional challenges are posed by the proximity to the San Francisco Bay. One project involved refuting a conceptual site model by assimilating forensic data, physical soil analysis, and NAPL saturation data; proposed remedial action is the installation of a low-cost organoclay-based permeable reactive barrier.

Jet Fuel Bulk Storage Facilities, San Francisco and Oakland Airports (2001 to 2005). Program manager for PS aviation fuel distribution client projects in San Francisco Bay area. Orchestrated demolition of bulk jet fuel storage tank facilities and subsequent assessment and remediation. Negotiated with regulatory authorities, attorneys, and outside consultants. Remediation at San Francisco International Airport included excavation and ISCO using calcium peroxide reagent; remediation at Oakland International Airport included excavation of soil impacted with jet fuel and PCBs.

Former Solvent Packaging Facility, Union City, California (1996 to 1999). Maintained a large groundwater/soil remediation system located at a former solvent packaging facility. Chlorinated solvent contamination from the facility extended a quarter mile offsite and was captured using 22 groundwater extraction wells pumping from two separate aquifers. Air treatment was performed using a PURUS resin absorption unit.

Union Pacific Railroad, Western United States (1999-2001). Managed projects at Union Pacific Railroad sites in California and Oregon. Projects consisted of assessments of petroleum, solvents, metals, and pesticides contamination.
