During its eleven city Fall Due Diligence at Dawn Seminar Series, Environmental Data Resources, Inc. (EDR) conducted an informal survey to identify the most common Phase I findings which lead to a Phase II. Not surprisingly, the known or suspected presence of underground storage tanks, and existing or former dry cleaners which now use, or previously used, perchloroethylene in their cleaning operations were far and away the "typical" response. Interestingly, in similar surveys at previous Due Diligence at Dawn Seminars, underground storage tanks stood alone as the most common Phase I finding leading to a Phase II. Hence, it is clear that particular attention should be given to dry cleaners in the conduct of Phase Is.
